Name: Stephanie Brown AKA Batgirl
Name of Canon: Batman (DC Comics)
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: Canon
Reference: Stephanie Brown Entry on Comic Vine
Canon Point: Just after Issue #18 of Batgirl (2011)
Setting:
DC Universe: Stephanie's life takes place on an Earth similar to our own in every way except one: superheroes and villains. Multiple people have found themselves with the power, will, or intelligence to rise above their peers in order to do good or evil through various methods. First is through being aliens that have come to Earth, such as Superman (last of an alien race on the planet Krypton, with superpowers granted to him by Earth's sun) or Starfire (an alien princess where such powers were the norm). As well alien technologies have come from space and have been used by humans (such as the green lantern rings for the various human members of the Green Lantern Corps). The second way powers have been gained are through scientific anomolies or experiments, such as the Flash (through contact with chemicals and lightning). The third most common way is through magic (like the magician Zatanna). However, there are also ordinary humans who undertake the call of heroism or villainy with the use of gadgets and their own brains and brawn (such as Green Arrow, world-class archer, and Batman.)
The people of Earth, despite the heightened danger from such elements, generally live calmly and decently not batting an eye at the fact that they exist right next to such strange conditions, unless of course they are in immediate danger. However there can be persecution of the heroes and also the opposite in rabid fans. For this reason most heroes tend to keep a secret identity, and there are few who openly admit to who they are and what they do. The villains on the other hand are quite widely known, either to what they consider their own advantage or not. And while world-wide catastrophes have happened, and likely will happen again, it does not seem to stick nor take long for the world to revert back to its "normal" status.
Gotham: Gotham city, located in the United States, is one of the larger habitats of villainy and crime in the world. Dark and dingy on the lower levels, and clean only where there are those too rich to care, it's not a place one would necessarily want to find themselves living. The police department tries, under the watch of its honorable Commissioner Jame Gordon, but the fact is it's not just the physical city that is dirty. The people are as well, whether they are the mob, the corrupt cops, or the super criminals of the city. The famous "revolving door" of Arkham Aslym on the outskirts on the city also prove testament to the sick and twisted minds of the city.
However, there are those who help fight against the criminal underground of the city. The first of them being the Batman, philanthropist Bruce Wayne whose parents were killed in front of him when he was only eight years old. Taking it upon himself to prove that Gotham can be a good city, he chose to become a vigilante to take down the criminals, but allow the law to do with them as it should. Under his example have come many other heroes, such as the daughter of a mafia-man Huntress, or the ex-military Batwoman. But Batman has also taken others under his wing (so to speak) in order to train them and help them learn how to fight crime but not become it.
These have been his Robins and his Batgirls, Stephanie Brown being the latest one. She has followed his traditions (with perhaps a bit more wit and flair) in protecting the city of Gotham as well as growing as a human being. Although often treated with more contempt than respect from her peers or fear from the villains she has made a name for herself quite quickly as being a force to be reckoned with within the city of Gotham.
Personality: Steph's personality is very set by a truth she discovered when first becoming Batgirl, "The only variable you can control is yourself, so you can be whoever you want to be." So, granted by this line of thinking, she's stubborn as hell. The number of times people in her life have told her not to do something and she continued on with it anyway is staggering. Of course it has gotten her into trouble, like becoming pregnant, setting up doom in all of Gotham, and almost dying. However she takes all of the things she has done and does not forget them, but embrace them as what has created her and vows not to do them again.
Even so, she is constantly craving the approval of everyone around her. Rather than doing things to show that she doesn't need their approval, she does it to prove herself. She wants to prove not only that she's just as good as everyone else in the business is, but that they can rely on her when there's trouble. As well, she wants to prove that she is better than her father, formerly the villain The Cluemaster before he died. However, this need to prove herself often clashes with her stubbornness, causing others to find her immature, brash, or when put kindly "a little too creative."
The Batfamily has been founded on being sneaky, getting in and out without letting your enemy, constantly having the upper hand through stealth. Stephanie's not really a fan of that. When attacking, or even just talking, she always has to have the first word in edge-wise, frequently blowing cover to storm into the battle with a battle-cry of "here we go!" As well, even when fighting she is constantly throwing out quips and puns or talking casually over her headset to anyone who cares to listen.
These quips and one-liners make their way into her regular life too, as she is a very sarcastic and funny conversationalist. However there are few that appreciate her humor, and she often first expects people to brush her off or sneer at her then actually consider her a friend. In this way she is cautious when actually considering someone a friend. They have to prove to her that they are truly looking out for her before she accepts them as an ally. This is also due to her shaky relationship with her father, helping her learn that people will often try to fake nice before screwing you over.
Stephanie has been through a lot, and could have chosen the path of being hardened and bitter or alive and proud to be so, and her personality greatly reflects the latter. Although this carefree attitude has shown her to take things less seriously than they should be taken, she is still a great hero and protector of Gotham City.
Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
Stephanie is a master at hand-to-hand combat, as well as with the use of a telescopic baton and throwing projectiles. She also is quite good at parkour-style acrobatics and the use of traveling long distances with a grapnel line. She also has quite a sharp mind, and is very good at thinking on the fly to find weapons to fight with or added bonuses to fights. Otherwise she is quite human, with all of the soft squishy weaknesses that come with it.
Inventory: One telescopic baton, one utility belt (with batarangs, smoke bombs, freeze-a-rangs, a grapple projector and line, and a set of thermal binoculars), and the Batsuit on her back.
Appearance: Stephanie is around 5'6", a muscular frame with blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale skin.
Age: 19

There was a crack of glass and a wet splatter on the ground before the goon fell, a muffled whump onto the convenience store floor and the skitter of a gun across the floor. Above the robber Stephanie stood, a grin a mile wide on her face as she held the now broken and dripping jar of relish she had used to knock him out.
"Well, didn't think I'd relish that as much as I did."
She looked up at the store owner waggling her eyebrows, waiting for the chuckle. He only stared at her wide-eyed, hands held over his head. They never laughed. Well fine, everyone's a critic. Giving a shrug she placed the broken jar on the store counter before whipping a pair of handcuffs out of her belt and slapped them on the robber's wrists. She gave a small salute to the store owner and ran out of the store just as she heard the sirens. GCPD, right on cue, they could take care of the mess.
A fire of her grapple gun and she was back in the skies, scanning the streets of Gotham for more citizens in need. Mentally she checked off the second robbery of the night, hoping for something more exciting. Maybe Scarecrow testing a new formula on a retirement home or Penguin stealing the stuffed bird collection at the Natural History Museum. Something more than a quick kick-and-cuff.
Well, here her excitement was about to come.
She felt gravity shift through her body before slamming on the ground, and for a moment there was pure panic. I'm dead I'm dead, dead, dead, I hit the ground and died. Barbara is going to be so pissed at me! But a mental check-through revealed no broken bones or ruptured organs. Other than being in pain and on the ground she was fine.
What?
She pushed herself off of the ground and took a look around. There was trash everywhere, some metal, some organic, some ... well, she wasn't sure what a lot of it was. What just happened? Rubbing the back of her neck she frowned.
"Hey, O? You there? I'm ... uh, well you might have to check my GPS for this one."
Nothing. Silence. Long and uncomfortable silence.
"...O? Oracle? Hel-loooo? Great."
She took another long look around before finally choosing a direction and walking. One way or another, she was going to get some answers and get them now.
"Here we go ..."

[The feed flashes on, showing a bright pair of blue eyes, large and confused, behind a black cowl framed with blonde hair. Is this some sort of costume party? Who knows. Thing is she doesn't look like your average cosplay enthusiast. Well Sacrosanct, meet Batgirl.]
Okay, so ... in space. That's crazy, right? Well, no, I guess not for the big guy, he's got his Watchtower, but still. This is insane. And painful, I seriously cricked my neck on the way down.
So, first things first, if someone could tell me where to get an ice pack that would be great. Then second, maybe tell me why exactly why Scotty chose to beam me up. Awesome.
